One of the hidden secrets of Barcelona are the Bunkers del Carmel. These massive concrete structures built on top of Rovira Hill were used as part of an anti-craft battery during the Civil War. Today, they offer the best views of the city, enjoyed mostly by locals as the access is somewhat remote. This photograph was taken on the way up Rovira Hill. The exposed brick, mortar and stone in hard light was impossible for a black and white photographer to resist.
